Balkan Kids - Let us Play!

An evening of literature, music, and togetherness – „Don’t play with the Albanian or Roma kids – play with the normal ones.“ Words that echo from Anna Jäger’s childhood in Greece. Words that many children still hear today. Thankfully, she never listened to the elders. On June 21, all Balkan kids are invited to play – together. Writers Elson Zguri (Όλες οι γάτες ειναι όμορφες) and Anna Jäger (Ganz normale Tage) will read from their powerful books about identity, belonging, and the feeling of living in-between cultures between Albania, Greece & Germany. Reading in albanian, greek & german. Hava Bekteshi, the first albanian female artist who brought the traditional çifteli to international stages, breaking borders in a male dominated music scene, will play live çifteli. Mastika Sounds, a DJ collective from Hamburg St.Pauli by Xristina Fotiou & die fesche Lola will be fusing Balkan beats with Kurdish, Turkish, and Levantine rhythms – music that dissolves boundaries and brings hearts closer. Join us for a night of bold stories, live music, and the unmistakable spirit of the Balkans. Let’s celebrate what unites us – with words, rhythm, and a little mastika.
